Business Analyst Job Description Overview A Business analyst collects, analyzes, and visualizes data to help organizations make data-driven decisions. They design dashboards, reports, and data models that are easy to understand and actionable. Key Responsibilities • Connect to multiple data sources (databases, Excel, APIs, etc.) • Clean and transform data using Power Query • Build data models and relationships • Create interactive dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI • Write DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas for calculations • Monitor and improve report performance • Collaborate with business teams to understand requirements • Ensure data accuracy and consistency • Automate reporting processes Required Skills Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI • DAX and Power Query (M language) • SQL for database querying • Data modeling concepts • Excel (advanced level) • Basic understanding of data warehousing Soft Skills • Analytical thinking • Problem-solving ability • Communication skills (explaining data to non-technical users) • Attention to detail Qualifications • Bachelors degree from premium institute (Tier1 / Tier 2 colleges): • Computer Science • Information Technology • Data Science • Business Analytics • Certifications (optional but valuable) • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate Tools & Technologies • Microsoft Power BI • SQL Server / MySQL • Excel • Azure (optional) • Python or R (optional for advanced analytics)
