Job Description

The D. E. Shaw group is a global investment and technology development firm with more than $115 billion in investment capital as of September 1, 2026, and offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. Since our founding in 1988, our firm has earned an international reputation for successful investing based on innovation, careful risk management, and the quality and depth of our staff. We have a significant presence in the world's capital markets, investing in a wide range of companies and financial instruments in both developed and developing economies. We are seeking an enthusiastic, analytical, and resourceful product manager to join our Investment Services Technology team, partnering closely with the Compliance team, based in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram. This position offers the opportunity for broad exposure to the firm’s trading, operations, and software development groups, as well as the chance to manage real-time issues related to the firm’s expanding suite of global investment products in a dynamic, constantly evolving regulatory environment. The role offers an inclusive and dynamic environment, with a focus on improving technology for efficiency, control, and scalability. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional product management fundamentals, experience in process optimization and workflow automation, and the judgment to operate effectively in a highly regulated and confidential environment with diverse stakeholders. WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY: You will drive technological solutions that support critical compliance functions across the firm, collaborating with cross-functional teams — engineering, design, business, and other front- and back-office partners — to develop and launch new products and features. You will develop and maintain a strategic product roadmap that aligns with the firm's overall goals and evolves continuously based on user feedback, prioritization, and other factors while working with senior leadership in Compliance. You will also partner closely with the business to understand their needs, define product requirements, scope open-ended projects, and conceptualize effective solutions across a broad range of functional areas, including pre-trade compliance and trade-restriction management, position-limit monitoring, trade surveillance, and regulatory and transaction reporting. Additionally, you will conduct technical design and architecture reviews to ensure alignment with the roadmap and end-user needs and partner with engineering to address technical challenges and deliver on time and to specification. You will evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, replace legacy and vendor systems with scalable in-house platforms, and develop AI- and data-enabled tools for monitoring, detection, and reporting — balancing near-term regulatory and operational needs against long-term strategic and architectural objectives, often building scalable infrastructure in areas with limited existing technology while serving as a senior point of coordination for compliance technology transformation. Furthermore, you will monitor product usage and feedback to identify areas for improvement and address technical debt in a timely manner, maintain product documentation (requirements documents, user guides, and more), conduct training and enablement as a subject-matter expert for the product suite, and manage product launches and backlogs — prioritizing features and enhancements based on end-user feedback and business needs. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: The ideal candidate should hold- Basic qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, a related field, or an MBA, with 8+ years of product management experience, preferably within the financial services or investment management industry • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and operational concepts clearly, influence decision-making through both meetings and written artifacts, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups • Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities, with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to generate product insights, prioritize initiatives, measure outcomes, and guide product strategy • Proven adaptability in managing changing priorities, with robust project and delivery management skills in dynamic environments • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and business teams, translating nontechnical needs into clear requirements while balancing competing stakeholder priorities, building consensus, and delivering customer-focused outcomes • A high degree of attention to detail and structured problem-solving abilities, with a consistent focus on quality, risk awareness, and operational excellence • Hands-on experience owning and delivering technology products end-to-end in Agile environments, from product vision and discovery through backlog management, iterative delivery, launch, scaling, and ongoing maturation • Demonstrated expertise in workflow automation and process optimization, applying structured approaches and tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and control • A solid understanding of operational workflows within hedge funds and investment management firms, including how controls, data integrity, and regulatory considerations shape technology and product design Preferred qualifications: • Exposure to the investment management or hedge fund domain, with familiarity with pre-trade compliance, trade restrictions, position limits, trade surveillance, or regulatory and transaction reporting • Experience partnering closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, or other control functions to define requirements and deliver workflow-driven, compliant technology solutions Interested candidates can apply through our website: https://www.deshawindia.com/recruit/jobs/Ads/Link/PMComplyTechOct26 We encourage candidates with relevant experience looking to restart their careers after a break to apply for this position.
