Backend Developer (Node.js Developer)

Location: Pune, Maharashtra (On-site) Experience: 3–4 years Type: Full-time About the Role We are building a consumer product from the ground up and are looking for a Backend Developer who can take ownership of services end-to-end — from designing scalable APIs to deploying and maintaining them in production. You will work closely with the founder and frontend/mobile teams, contributing to technical decisions rather than just executing tasks. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is comfortable with ambiguity. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Node.js and Express.js Design efficient database schemas and manage data across MongoDB and PostgreSQL Optimize queries, indexing, and ensure high-performance data access patterns Own deployment and infrastructure for services, including Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS Build clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code Integrate third-party services such as authentication, payments, notifications, and storage systems Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of backend systems Collaborate with frontend/mobile developers to define and maintain API contracts Participate in code reviews and help define engineering best practices Debug and resolve production issues independently when needed Must-Have Requirements 3–4 years of experience in backend development Strong expertise in Node.js and Express.js Hands-on experience with both MongoDB and PostgreSQL Schema design, indexing, and query optimization Ability to choose the right database based on use case (relational vs document) Strong understanding of REST API design principles Experience with authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth) Practical experience with Docker and containerized applications Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.) Working knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and error handling Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows Experience debugging production-level issues Familiarity with caching systems (Redis), message queues, or background job processing Good to Have Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) Exposure to AWS ECS, Lambda, or Kubernetes Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana) Prior experience in a startup or building products from scratch What We Offer High ownership and technical decision-making authority Opportunity to work directly with founders Exposure to building a product from the ground up Competitive compensation (to be discussed) Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year Benefits: • Life insurance • Paid sick time • Provident Fund Work Location: In person
