With a strong focus on sustainability and the circular economy, we collaborate with leading academics, industry partners, and international organizations to advance battery intelligence and next-generation mobility across Europe and beyond. ### Position Overview: We are looking for an IoT Backend Developer to build and scale the data backbone of our battery platforms. In this role, you will work extensively with **ThingsBoard** \- our core IoT platform for device connectivity, dashboards, rule engine, and more, and design reliable, high-throughput **data ingestion** pipelines that bring device and battery telemetry into our systems. Since ThingsBoard is built on **Java** , you will also extend and customize it at the code level. You will collaborate closely with backend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver robust end-to-end IoT features, from device data to actionable analytics. ### Key Responsibilities: * Design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for high-volume IoT and battery telemetry (MQTT/HTTP/CoAP), ensuring reliability and performance. * Configure, extend, and customize ThingsBoard device provisioning, rule chains, dashboards, integrations, and custom widgets. * Develop and extend ThingsBoard components in Java (rule nodes, transport, and custom extensions) to meet product needs. * Design and implement backend services and APIs that expose IoT data to downstream applications and analytics. * Optimize storage and processing of time-series data for scalability and low latency. * Integrate backend services with edge devices and hardware gateways, including CAN/CAN FD interfaces, industrial communication units, and embedded data acquisition systems. * Troubleshoot device connectivity, hardware-to-cloud communication, data ingestion, and end-to-end data-flow issues. * Collaborate with embedded, hardware, backend, DevOps, and product teams to define telemetry interfaces, protocols, data formats, diagnostics, and secure edge-to-cloud workflows. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to code reviews, CI/CD, and continuous improvement. ### Development Skills: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Tier 1 or Tier 2 universities preferred). * 1-3 years of hands-on backend development experience in production environments. * Working knowledge of **ThingsBoard** (device management, rule engine, dashboards, integrations) is required. * Solid **Java** development skills, with the ability to read, extend, and customize a Java-based platform. * Experience with **data ingestion** and IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTP, CoAP) and message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ). * Experience with time-series and relational databases (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, or similar). * Proficiency with Docker for containerization; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud services (AWS) is a plus. * Familiarity with embedded systems, edge gateways, CAN-based communication, and hardware-to-cloud integration is highly preferred. * Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills, with attention to details. ### What We Offer: * Hands-on experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. * Opportunities to work on impactful projects that drive innovation. * Competitive salary and benefits package. * Supportive team culture within an international work environment. * Professional development and mentorship opportunities.
