About The Role As a Senior Full-Stack Developer, you will build, customize, and maintain high-performance, secure web applications and integrations for customers that include banks, hospitals, and Fortune 500 companies. You will work across the full stack — from WordPress themes and plugins to Laravel/MVC applications and REST APIs — writing clean, well-documented code and ensuring reliable, high-quality user experiences. What You'll Do • Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites using Avada & custom themes, ensuring responsive, high-performance front-end experiences. • Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress plugins and themes using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and jQuery, following best practices and coding standards. • Build and maintain custom web applications using Laravel and the MVC (Model-View-Controller) architecture, applying structured, maintainable design patterns for scalable solutions. • Design and integrate REST APIs to connect applications and third-party services. • Participate in deep planning and specification work before implementation — helping define the right approach, architecture, and technical decisions up front. • Use AI coding assistants to write clean, well-documented code efficiently, while carefully reviewing and validating all AI-generated output for correctness, security, and fit before it ships. • Write clean, well-structured, and well-documented code, including inline documentation and technical documentation for features and changes. • Collaborate with internal teams (support, project management, and other developers) to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and improve existing solutions. • Optimize websites and web applications for performance, security, and scalability, aligning with our security-first and high-availability environment. • Use GitHub for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows. • Debug and resolve front-end and back-end issues in WordPress sites and custom web applications. • Communicate effectively in English (spoken and written) with team members and, when needed, customers. Required Qualifications Experience & Core Stack • 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience. • Advanced PHP skills (OOP, design patterns, debugging). • WordPress plugin and theme development from scratch. • Avada and theme customization expertise, including advanced customization and performance optimization. • Strong MySQL database design and optimization for dynamic, data-driven applications. • Strong front-end skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery, with a focus on responsive and cross-browser compatible interfaces. • Solid experience with Laravel and the MVC architecture for building scalable, maintainable web applications. • REST API development experience. • Version control (GitHub) in collaborative team environments. • A deep, first-principles understanding of software architecture, programming fundamentals, and the technologies you work with — enough to make conscious technical decisions and to critically evaluate code (including AI-generated code) rather than accepting it at face value. • Strong grasp of system design principles, SOLID principles, and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including planning and specification before implementation. • Proficiency with AI coding assistants (Claude, Gemini, Codex, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery of clean, well-documented code — paired with the judgment and discipline to review, question, and validate AI output rather than trusting it blindly. • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code and follow established coding standards and best practices. Security (Security-First Environment) • Strong understanding of web application security fundamentals, including common vulnerabilities such as XSS, CSRF, SQL injection, authentication/authorization flaws, and input validation. • Experience implementing secure coding practices in PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress (proper escaping/sanitization, prepared statements, secure session handling, password hashing). • Hands-on experience with WordPress security hardening, including managing updates, secure configuration, user roles/permissions, security plugins, and protection against brute-force/bot attacks. • Familiarity with TLS/HTTPS, certificate management concepts, and secure configuration of web servers and reverse proxies. • Understanding of cloud security best practices (least-privilege IAM, secure storage of secrets, network security groups/firewalls, encryption at rest and in transit). • Experience with backups, disaster recovery concepts, and incident response basics (detecting, triaging, and mitigating security or availability incidents). • Ability to use monitoring and logging tools to detect performance and security issues (error logs, access logs, application monitoring, security alerts). Communication & Collaboration • Excellent English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking), including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Comfortable collaborating with a distributed, international team. Preferred Qualifications • Performance optimization and caching strategies. • Hosting environment knowledge (cloud servers, server configurations). • Experience with continuous integration/deployment tools. • Familiarity with WordPress testing frameworks. • Hands-on experience with Golang, AWS Lambda, and DynamoDB for building and maintaining serverless or event-driven services. • Understanding of micro-services architecture, including service boundaries, communication patterns, and observability concepts. • Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, and Express.js for building modern full-stack JavaScript applications. • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
