The Mechanical Engineer - MEP role is responsible for coordinating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing activities for industrial construction projects in Ahmedabad. The position combines drawing review, on-site installation supervision, project coordination, inspection, reporting, and material planning to support timely and compliant project delivery. Responsibilities • Design Review & Coordination • Review and analyse mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) shop drawings, specifications, and material submittals for accuracy and alignment with the project scope • Coordinate MEP and civil drawings to resolve clashes and prevent issues during site execution • Attend and participate in meetings with consultants, architects, vendors, and contractors regarding MEP matters • Ensure civil obstructions are cleared before MEP installation begins • Facilitate effective communication between the design and execution teams to support constructability • Site Supervision & Inspection • Supervise and coordinate the on-site installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, firefighting, and electrical systems • Monitor the daily progress of MEP activities and ensure work is completed in accordance with project schedules, specifications, and standards • Conduct site inspections, review installation work, and ensure compliance with project requirements • Verify and track inspection reports submitted by vendors and contractors • Prepare and submit work inspection reports for review and approval • Project Coordination & Reporting • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on-site to support the timely completion of MEP activities • Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports to the project manager and construction manager • Attend weekly and monthly meetings with vendors, consultants, and project management consultants • Liaise with architects, consultants, and project management consultants to ensure the design intent is fulfilled during execution • Materials, Billing & Documentation • Estimate MEP material requirements based on approved drawings and work schedules • Coordinate material delivery schedules to prevent delays in execution • Assist with the preparation, verification, and certification of contractor and vendor bills • Maintain accurate records relating to quantities, materials, and completed work Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering • 4 to 8 years of experience working at construction sites • Minimum 4 years of experience supporting industrial construction projects • Comfortable working on-site in a construction environment • Experience reviewing MEP drawings, coordinating installations, and resolving site execution issues • Ability to prepare progress reports and maintain accurate project, inspection, material, and quantity documentation About the company A Japan-based engineering and construction company with operations in India.
