Job Description

Role Overview We are looking for Graduate Engineer Trainees to join our manufacturing plants and undergo a structured training program across core plant functions. The ideal candidate will be a fresh engineering graduate with a strong grounding in core engineering fundamentals, a willingness to work on the shop floor, and the flexibility to take up rotational assignments across production, quality, and maintenance functions. The individual will go through a structured induction and training pathway, work under the guidance of senior engineers and plant leadership, and gradually take ownership of specific process, quality, or maintenance responsibilities within the plant. The role works closely with production supervisors, quality engineers, maintenance teams, and plant management to ensure that the trainee's learning translates directly into operational and process improvement outcomes. Key Responsibilities 1. Production & Process Support Support day-to-day production and process operations across assigned lines/departments during the training period. Develop working knowledge of: • Manufacturing/process flow and machine operations • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions • Production planning, scheduling, and line balancing basics • Material flow, inventory, and shop-floor logistics Assist in identifying and resolving day-to-day production bottlenecks under supervision. 2. Quality Support & Process Improvement Support quality checks, in-process inspections, and adherence to quality standards on the shop floor. Develop: • Understanding of quality tools (Ishikawa, 5-Why, Pareto, Control Charts) • Familiarity with process audits and non-conformance reporting • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen practices Assist in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities for quality issues. 3. Maintenance & Reliability Support Support preventive and breakdown maintenance activities for plant machinery and equipment. Build understanding of: • Machine uptime monitoring and downtime analysis • Basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting • Maintenance scheduling and spares management Participate in reliability-improvement initiatives alongside maintenance engineers. 4. Cross-Functional Rotation & Learning Undergo rotational assignments across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Supply Chain functions during the initial training period. Build a broad-based understanding of end-to-end plant operations before specializing in a chosen function. Participate in structured classroom and on-the-job training modules as part of the GET curriculum. 5. Documentation, Reporting & EHS Compliance Maintain accurate documentation, data logs, and MIS reports for assigned processes. Support digitization/data-entry of production, quality, and maintenance records. Strictly observe and promote workplace Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, including correct use of PPE at all times. Report safety observations, near-misses, and process deviations promptly to supervisors. 6. Learning, Certification & Career Progression Complete all mandatory training modules and internal certifications within the defined training period. Work with mentors and supervisors to build a personal development plan for progression into a specialist engineering role (Production/Quality/Maintenance Engineer) post-training. Success Metrics The success of this role will be measured through: • Completion and performance in structured training modules/certifications • Quality of shop-floor contribution during rotational assignments • Adherence to safety (EHS) standards and zero preventable safety incidents • Process/quality improvement ideas contributed during training • Supervisor and mentor evaluation scores across each rotation • Readiness assessment score at the end of the training period • Timely conversion into a specialist engineering role post-training Required Skills & Competencies • Strong fundamentals in core engineering discipline (Mechanical/Electrical/Production/Instrumentation, as applicable) • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) • Working knowledge of or willingness to learn CAD, PLC, or ERP tools relevant to the plant • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability • Good communication and teamwork skills • Willingness to work in rotational shifts and on the shop floor • Adaptability to a fast-paced, safety-conscious plant environment • Data-driven approach to process observation and reporting Ideal Background Essential • 2026 batch of B.E./B.Tech./Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Production/Industrial, Instrumentation, or allied engineering branches (full-time/regular courses only) • Consistent academic record of 60% and above in 10th, 12th/Diploma (as applicable), and UG (aggregate of all semesters/subjects) • No standing arrears/backlogs at the time of recruitment • Not more than 2 years of academic gap (SSC/HSC/Diploma/UG) • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, on the shop floor, and across plant locations • Willingness to comply with all EHS norms and PPE requirements at the plant Preferred • Prior internship/project experience in a manufacturing or plant environment • Exposure to CAD/CAM, PLC, SCADA, or ERP systems through academic projects • Participation in Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen-related coursework or certifications • Understanding of hiring/operational requirements across Automobile, Heavy Engineering, Electronics, or Process Manufacturing sectors Selection Process: Profile Screening → Online Assessment (Aptitude, Technical & Communication) → Technical & HR Interview Rounds → Final Shortlist.
